07/13/09 – Combing Glass – Summer is upon us and if it is not hot enough outside for you, heat up the kiln for this sizzling combing technique. This process does involve working in the blistering hot kiln as you rake a stainless steel rod through some molten glass. It is an exciting technique that will have you impatiently waiting for the kiln to go through the annealing and cooling off stages so you can finally see you finished product. There are several safety precautions that need to be adhered to so be sure to read and follow them for a cautious outcome.
